About ACMN - Formation of the College

ACMN (Australasian College of Medical Nutrition) is a not-for-profit college formed to help train doctors and Practice Nurses in Injectable Nutrition. Its formation resulted from a void in the marketplace due to a significant reduction in training in this area.

The founding fathers of injectable nutrients in Australia were Drs Glen Dettman and Archie Kalokerinos.
In the early seventies Dr Ian Dettman, Dr Glen Dettman and Dr Archie Kalokerinos, as well as Drs John Piesse, Iggy Soosay, Warren Hastings, Joe Goldbaum, David Grundmann and Michael O’Doherty, commenced practitioner education in injectable nutrients under the non-profit umbrella organisation DetKal.

Following the formation of ACNEM in 1982, Dr Ian Dettman supported the ACNEM training in many practical ways and over the decades since then has offered and still does offer a great deal of support to doctors and nurses involved in administering injectable nutrients. In the early 2000's Dr Dettman was central to the establishment of ACNEM’s Chelation and Injectable Nutrients training programs, which he and Cliff Meakin were the authors of. They also presented much of the material themselves. Dr Dettman was head of ACNEM’s Injectable Nutrients Certification Committee, also serving on the ACNEM Board, its Education Committee and its Senior Management Committee.

The ACMN was set up by Dr Ian Dettman in conjunction with Professor Robert Allen, Dr Joachim Fluhrer and Daan Spijer to increase and expand the training of doctors in Medical Nutrition. The ACMN 2010 Board members are Prof Robert Allen, Dr Richard Moore, Dr Robert Hanner, Dr Ian Dettman and Daan Spijer. This organisation looks forward to being of service to doctors and practice nurses in providing truly excellent up-to-the-minute and practical training, Certification and on-going support in Injectable Nutrients.
