Aims and Objectives
The Aims and Objectives of the Australasian College of Medical Nutrition are as follows:
1. The principal object for which the Company is established is to promote the prevention and the control of diseases in human beings by the practice of medical nutrition in Australia with special emphasis on parenteral nutrition.
2. Ancillary objects of the Company and methods the Company will employ to achieve its principal object are:
(1) to promote and enhance the health of the community at large through teaching and promoting the practice of medical nutrition.
(2) to educate medical practitioners in the disciplines, skills and benefits of medical nutrition.
(3) to promote the understanding and development of medical nutrition.
(4) to foster and encourage the practice of medical nutrition as a means of promoting optimal health and of preventing and treating physical and mental ill-health.
(5) to act as a training body for medical practitioners and allied healthcare professionals who practise medical nutrition.
(6) to develop and promote medical nutrition to become part of established medical practice, including as part of primary medicine.
(7) to promote medical nutrition as a separate specialty within the wider field of medicine.
(8) to encourage the training of, and to train medical practitioners in, the field of medical nutrition with special emphasis on parenteral nutrition.
(9) to promote relations between persons and bodies engaged in training or practice of medical nutrition.
(10) to establish high standards of skill, practice and ethics in the field of medical nutrition.
(11) to provide advice and information to consumers of, and to those practising in, the field of medical nutrition.
(12) to act as, and to promote itself as, an authoritative body in the field of medical nutrition.
(13) to promote and seek representation for the field of medical nutrition in appropriate academic, political and other forums.
(14) to act as adviser and information resource to governments and others in matters concerning medical nutrition.
3. The Company must pursue charitable purposes only and must apply its income in promoting those purposes.
